As we all pause to celebrate the Season and reflect on the past year and the year to come the officers and members of the Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad wish each and every one of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy, healthy and safe New Year.
The snow we've had over this past weekend has made the whole community feel like Christmas to me, and the response of the members of LPVRS to the weather has been a glowing example of the best in St. Mary's County. At the height of the storm LPVRS members crewed all five of the currently in-service ambulances, Utility 39 with it's four-wheel-drive capability and Medic 391, the satellite unit of St. Mary's Advanced Life Support housed at Station 38. In addition we received mutual aid support from our friends at the Bay District Volunteer Fire Department when the Snow Emergency Plan was put into effect in the county.
I am so proud of the members of this rescue squad and all of our colleagues in volunteer Emergency Services. At a time when demand was great these folks stepped up to be where they were needed, many giving up hours of time with families and home to provide a vital service to their neighbors. My personal heart-felt thanks go out to the professional volunteers of the Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad for their continued dedication to service - over 5,500 calls answered in the last 12 months.
Once again, please enjoy the Holiday Season, be safe and all the best wishes for a Happy New Year.
