Given the recent tragedy of a school shooting in our community, the St. Mary’s County Health Department has compiled the following resources for addressing mental health and overall well-being of children and adults. These resources are important for both those directly impacted (such as victims, witnesses, responders) as well as others in our community. If you are concerned or may need help, please seek assistance for yourselves and for your children in the aftermath of this tragedy.
The St. Mary's County Health Department’s crisis resource page is up and running as of early this morning, it includes several links to helpful resources for parents and community. It also has links to Walden's site, their crisis hotline, and also links to local mental health service providers and community supports.
We have informed our local health care provider network about the resources so they may best use it to assist with their patients, and have also notified the schools. I believe the county will be putting it out via press release tomorrow, and we have already been pushing it out via social media.
