We are thrilled to announce that both Jason Sater and Karen Szabo were named our February Members of the Month at LPVRS! Despite their different backgrounds and journeys with LPVRS, they share a common passion for serving their community and helping those in need.

Jason's journey with LPVRS began in October when he joined our squad and started his probation period on November 1st, 2022. Despite having a busy work schedule at NAVAIR and juggling family commitments, Jason has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to serving his community.

As a former police officer, state criminal investigator, and federal agent, Jason brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our team. His passion for emergency medicine and desire to help others led him to join LPVRS, and we are lucky to have him on board. Currently, Jason is attending EMT classes and will test in June. He has also been an active participant in LPVRS meetings, training opportunities, and weekly duty runs.

Jason wanted to give a special shoutout to Jordan, his wife of almost 30 years, for her encouragement and support. We know that balancing work, family, and volunteering can be a challenge, and we are grateful to have Jordan's support in helping Jason serve our community. Congratulations again, Jason, on this well-deserved recognition! We are fortunate to have you as part of the LPVRS family.

Karen's journey with LPVRS began in 1988 and took a brief intermission to focus on her family before returning in 1996 where she’s remained since. Although she allowed her EMT certification to expire in December 2021, after 24 years, her passion for helping patients remains as strong as ever. She maintains her CPR certification and enjoys caring for patients as an active crew member, only now she can bypass the electronic reports! Karen's love for helping others started when she took a first aid class in college and found a connection with the people around her also interested in helping others. She has had an exciting and diverse career, working in various roles such as an Ice Cream Scooper, 911 Dispatcher, Pet Sitter, Receptionist, Para-Educator, Picture Framer, Substitute Teacher, and EMT.

Although she allowed her EMT certification to expire in December 2021, after 24 years, her passion for helping patients remains as strong as ever. She maintains her CPR certification and enjoys caring for patients as an active crew member, only now she can bypass the electronic reports! An avid lover of the outdoors, Karen hikes as much and as long as she can, keeping in mind the goal of being able to help patients as long as she is able to climb into the ambulance.

Karen's wish is for others to understand the emotional gratification that comes from helping another human being experiencing an emergency. It is her belief that being there for someone during a time of need helps and matters, regardless of the outcome. Karen is an exceptional member of our team, and we are lucky to have her dedication and passion for serving our community. Congratulations, Karen, on this well-deserved recognition!
