As we celebrate National EMS Week, we reflect on our journey from our humble beginnings in 1953, to once being one of the busiest all-volunteer EMS companies in Maryland. Over the years, we've faced and overcome countless challenges, evolving with the times, upgrading our facilities, and expanding our services to meet the needs of our community. LPVRS was established under the sponsorship of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Lions Club. In that inaugural year, with just 10 members and a budget of $700, we responded to 48 calls. Today, we run over 6,000 calls annually with a budget that has grown to support us - an incredible testament to our dedication and commitment. In our 70 years, we've grown from parking ambulances outside to owning multiple state-of-the-art buildings housing our fleet and serving as administrative and training hubs. The opening of Station 39 on FDR Blvd in 2014 and the achievement of the VAIP ALS Ambulance Seals of Excellence for all our ambulances marked key milestones in our journey. Each of our volunteers has played a crucial role in this journey. It's your commitment and selfless service that make us the thriving organization we are today. Let's celebrate this National EMS Week with pride, knowing that every call we answer, every life we touch, is a tribute to our shared mission and collective effort. So here's to you, the heroes of Lexington Park Volunteer Rescue Squad. Your dedication, resilience, and passion embody the very spirit of EMS. Thank you for your service, your sacrifice, and your commitment to our community. You make a difference every single day. Happy National EMS Week! |
