By Associate Secretary Cathy Miller
August 21, 2025

We are proud to announce our Officer of the month is Bridget Wimberly. Bridget joined the Rescue squad in 2010 when she was still a student in high school and has been an active running member all through her college years as well. She has held several Officer positions with the Rescue Squad since joining. She was nominated for Officer of the Month by her peers. She was nominated because of her dedicated to the citizens of community and our volunteer organization.

Our Squad Person of the Month is Blairlee Owens. She was nominated by our LPVRS Officers because of her outstanding performance as a member this month with her EMT class, running her hours and keeping up with her many other jobs she has with the squad. After being nominated for "SPOM" I asked her a few questions about her interest in joining the Rescue Squad and this is what she said. She joined the rescue squad in June of 2024. Why? ... "Six months before I decided to join, I witnessed a friend go into cardiac arrest and got to see first hand the work of the EMS crew in saving my friend’s life. I saw the difference they made in someone’s life and I wanted to do the same". Also, my daughter, Kathryn joined LPVRS 1.5 years prior and I saw how much she enjoyed her time with the LPVRS family and I wanted to be a part of that family too. My favorite part about being in the rescue squad is I get to enjoy the camaraderie and teamwork when volunteering on a crew and my most memorable project I've experienced at the rescue squad representing LPVRS at National Night Out and interacting with the community. Do you have any other positions other than running on the ambulance like and Officer position? I am new to the Special Events Coordinator. If you have a school group or community group who would like to visit the squad or have someone from the squad visit them to learn more about EMS and LPVRS, put them in contact with me. My contact information is 410-693-9744. If you get voice mail please leave your information and I will get back to you as soon as possible. What would you say is the biggest accomplishment you've achieved since joining the rescue squad? I recently completed EMT class and hope to be able to take the required testing soon to be able to serve as an EMT. If someone asked you about volunteering for the rescue squad what would you tell them? You will find a family that you never knew you needed, but are so blessed to have now. Being able to spend time with your family and make a difference in the lives of others is very rewarding.

We are extremely proud of both Bridget and Blairlee for being chosen this month. I hope you enjoyed the little "bio" of each them and look forward to what our future members have to share.
