| It goes without saying that all our members are shining stars. Here at LPVRS we function as a well oiled machine because of each other. All the time and effort that is put in by all our Volunteers does not go unnoticed. With that being said, we try to highlight members that did something that caught someone’s eye (maybe behind the scene's), then report about it so each of us gets to know our members a little bit more about them. We hope you enjoy October’s edition of Squad Person of the Month and Officer of the Month. Congratulations
Rebecca Potter was nominated for Squad Person of the Month due to her dedication to her community as well as to the members of the Rescue Squad. She is always willing to go that extra mile when asked and always has that extra hand when needed. She is an extremely dedicated person to anything she sets her mind to. Because of these qualities, mindset and the standards she has set for herself, the Officers agreed she was an outstanding candidate for Squad Person for October. Even her friends all say she’s an extremely “kind person”. She joined the rescue squad in January 2023 because she was “looking for something new”. I think the “something new” fits her perfectly. Her favorite part of being with LPVRS is being around people who care about helping others! Just being around people that help me understand is memorable. She enjoys building Lego’s in her spare time and professionally works with special needs adults. Her advice to her younger self and to others “always keep your head high and try something new”. Rebecca does have a sibling that is a First Responder.
Amber Major was nominated for Officer of the Month due to her dedication and commitment to the Rescue Squad. She joined the Rescue Squad when she was 17 while still attending high school and the Tech Center in Leonardtown. Amber was asked how she got started in the rescue squad. Simply said “I have always been intrigued with the medical field; the rescue squad allowed me to be in the “field” before the age of 18”. Shawn Davidson was my EMT instructor, and I enjoyed hanging out with all the other members that came to our class, so LPVRS was the Rescue Squad for me. I’ve been a Paramedic since 2019, and I am now the current ALS Coordinator since returning in August. A position which I have been in before. Amber’s biggest accomplishments since joining the rescue squad are EMT in 2012, Paramedic in 2019 Physician Assistant 2025. Physician Assistant is her now chosen profession. She says her favorite part about the Rescue Squad is helping people and being with her chosen family. Her most memorable part about Rescue Squad was delivering a baby in December of 2022. In her spare time, she loves being an Auntie and building Lego’s. If someone asked her about joining the Rescue Squad; she would tell them to do at least 1 shift as an observation shift.
Congratulations to Rebecca and Amber |
