Tom Raley has been named Squad Member of the Month, while Jessica Proctor-Siler has been chosen as Officer of the Month. Both have been recognized for their outstanding dedication and commitment to the squad, the community, and the squad family.
Tom joined the squad on October 10, 2023. He serves as the facility manager, a demanding role in itself, alongside his regular and additional responsibilities. Tom also contributes to ambulance operations as both a driver and crew member.
Jessica became a member of LPVRS on November 11, 2022, at the age of 42. Her family served as her inspiration, and she felt a strong need to help her community. Presently, Jessica is the Captain at Station 39 and previously held the position of Lieutenant at Station 39 for two years. She was drawn to the rescue squad because helping others has always been important to her. Jessica explains, "I wanted to give back to my community in a meaningful way, but I also wanted to challenge myself." Among her greatest achievements are gaining a second family at the squad, becoming a Lieutenant, and now a Captain. Jessica’s favorite aspect of volunteering is being able to be the best part of someone’s worst day, as well as enjoying the camaraderie of her squad family. Her most memorable experience was representing the squad during the Ruck run at Leonardtown High School. Jessica shares that she played the trumpet during her middle and high school years, a detail that few people know. Her hobbies include listening to all varieties of music. Jessica recommends volunteering with the rescue squad as a rewarding experience and encourages others to join the team. In addition to serving as an EMT with the rescue squad, Jessica is a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant and a GNA/CNA. She began volunteering after her children were grown and has never volunteered at other rescue squads in or outside of the county. Her daughter was previously a squad member but left for personal reasons. |
